Where is the condemnation from the moderate Muslims?
The terrorist massacre in India
Why can’t the hundreds of millions of moderate Muslims in the world organize a protest against Al Qaeda, against Osama Bin Laden, against what is today in India being falsely carried out in the name of Islam?
(From Madrid) ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION I have criticized the Israeli government in my personal blog, and I have even created a group called Jews for Lebanon, which raises funds for the victims of the Israeli bombing of Lebanon. And I am Jewish.
The fact that I’m a Jew does not mean I am unable to see the injustices committed by the Israeli government. The invasion of Lebanon was a disproportionate reaction to the kidnapping of Israeli soldiers by Hezbollah and I, like many other Jews inside and outside of Israel, protested this.
WHERE ARE THE DENUNCIATIONS?
“Why don’t Spanish Muslims protest the March 11th murders like the majority of Spaniards do when there is an ETA attack that leads to a consequent number of victims?” But what I am now wondering is why my moderate Muslim friends – and I say friends because some of those in my close circle of friends are Muslim or of Muslim origin (meaning they are secular like me but of Muslim origin) – do not publicly declare themselves to be against what the Muslim terrorists are doing, against the atrocities that these extremists commit in the name of their religion, a religion, we must not forget, that millions of people in the whole world profess to.
Why is it so rare to hear about Muslim Indians, for example, taking to the streets to protest against the extremists committing the massacre in Mumbai as I write these words?
Why do moderate British Muslims not take to the streets to protest against the other British Muslims responsible for the massacre of July 7th?
Why don’t Spanish Muslims protest the March 11th murders like the majority of Spaniards do when there is an ETA attack that leads to a consequent number of victims?
THEY KILL, WE DO NOT
“I cannot grasp how they allow a minority to make a statement and express themselves as if they were doing so on behalf of the majority” Personally, I think many of us are waiting for moderate Muslims, and I have no doubt that they constitute the majority of Muslims, to organize themselves in a peaceful manner and say, and denounce, and point out, that they kill, we do not.
The invasion of Iraq is a fairly specific issue. I, being Jewish, have gone to many demonstrations against this unjust occupation. But if I can attend a demonstration against the invasion of a Muslim country, why can’t the hundreds of millions of moderate Muslims in the world organize a protest against Al Qaeda, against Osama Bin Laden, against what is today in India being falsely carried out in the name of Islam?
I cannot grasp how they allow a minority to make a statement and express themselves as if they were doing so on behalf of the majority. Moderate Muslims have to regain the voice of Islam, which today, it seems, lies in the hands of the extremist minorities.
