Gómez Garavito, José Luis

José Luis Gómez Garavito is a lawyer and is currently completing his doctorate in Public Law at the University of París X Nanterre, on the topic of the kidnappings in Colombia. He has been a professor of History of Political Ideas at the University of Rosario in Bogotá. Aside from that he is a researcher assigned to the CEDIN-Paris X, Center of International Law Studies.

A particular political, diplomatic and legal phenomenon can be observed in relation to the drama of the kidnappings in Colombia: the matter has gone international. The question is whether this fact complicates or simplifies the liberation of those kidnapped, including those in the present as well as the future, those in Colombia and those that are held captive throughout the entire world.
