Ecuadorian president Rafael Correa, indisputable winner in the elections for the formation of the Constituent Assembly, has initiated his particular reform of all of the pillars of the government. Far from the initial dialog, the imposition defines the leader’s ways, and so we will have to see if Correa is a statesman or another caudillo, says the author.

Juan Pablo Morales Viteri is a lawyer and professor of Law and Politics at Pontificia Catholic University of Ecuador and coordinator of the postgraduate program of the Jurisprudence Faculty of the same university. He has specialized in Human Rights and has completed a Master’s in Political Action, Institutional Strengthening and Civic Participation in the State of Law at Franciso de Vitoria University in Madrid.
