Benedicto, Miguel Ángel

Miguel Ángel Benedicto is chief of the international section of Telemadrid. He directs Fácil Consultores and is president of the association Ideas and Debate (Spain). He is co-author of the books “Europe on Debate. Twenty Years Later (1986-2006)” and “The Major Operation of History’s Solidarity.” He has given postgraduate courses in the Complutense University and Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid.

The Irish no to the Treaty of Lisbon has made a clear statement: it is imperative to take every European citizen seriously. If this does not happen, the EU will continue without substantial progress in the political arena. The preeminence of technical and the bureaucratic complications will push the EU at two different speeds, which could cause it to derail entirely, says the author.
