Follow Up to the 2005 Summit on Democracy and Terrorism
By Martin Varsavsky
As a follow up to our extremely well received 2005 Summit and Atocha Workshop the Safe Democracy Foundation has decided to undertake as its 2006 project an online continuation of these gatherings. We will fund the expansion of the Safe Democracy web site. This posting is an invitation to all participants of the 2005 Summit and the Atocha Workshop to contribute articles to this very relevant web site during 2006 (please contact Joaquin Mirkin and send your comments to joaquinm@safe-democracy.org).
Our invitation to contribute postings to the Safe Democracy Blog. Articles related to the spread and consolidation of democracies throughout the world will be published here. The Safe Democracy Foundation will pay 50 euros per approved posting. All postings should be sent to Joaquin Mirkin joaquinm@safe-democracy.org.
GOOGLE RANKING
Other than symbolic compensation, the main advantage of publishing at the blogs of Safe Democracy
is to become a co author in collaborative blogs that start the year with some of the highest google rankings for NGOs in the world. What does this mean? For example if you joined our conference in 2005 and you google your own name your conference biography as it appears in the participants list is likely to appear in the first tow google pages of results. This is true for most participants except Heads of State and bloggers. This is the case because Heads of States tend to appear in many relevant web sites and because successful global bloggers have high google rankings on their own. To see google rankings you should download the Google Toolbar.
Having started many web sites both in the profit and not for profit world and seeing the recent success of collaborative as opposed to individual blogs I believe that the best contribution the Safe Democracy Foundation can do to the process of democracy consolidation around the world is to launch its two web sites as extremely relevant and high quality collaborative blogs to which all participants of the 2005 conferences are invited to contribute to.
