The Latin American Graduate Student Association (LAGO) and the Spanish & Portuguese Graduate Student Association invite submissions of individual papers or a panel presentations for theri graduate student conference entitled “Violence & Desire: Performance & Movements” For centuries, direct and indirect acts of violence have shaped the course of Latin American history. Such manifestations of violence, almost unequivocally, have been ignited by the undivided desire for political hegemony and economic acquisition propelled both by national and international agency. History, art, crime, justice, literature, popular culture, music, political and social movements reflect and respond to both formal and informal representations of violence in contemporary Latin America.
